07.09.2026 ..LEAGUE UPDATE - RESERVES ..

We are two weeks into the league season and everything is running nice and smoothly except a slight blip on 'Reserves'.

At the start of the match all players for the first session plus reserves (if any) must be entered onto the app.

If a player is substituted, and for example he plays in position 1 , he may also 'come back' into the side in session 3 BUT must return in position 1.

This is a tried and tested formula and does work.

A reminder reserves must be entered at the start.

Substitutes can play in any position in sessions 2 and 3 .

Substitutes , therefore could ,in theory' play the same player twice !!

Substitutes can play position 8 (second session) position 9 (third session) meaning 2 frames on the bounce .

Once again its a tried and tested formula ..

CUP SHOCKS, THRILLERS & A FEW NERVOUS NIGHTS!

Round One of the Knockout Cup serves up drama as Hurst Warriors knock out Premier opposition

The MB Entertainment's & Express Blinds Knockout Cup got off to a cracking start, with Round One producing everything you'd want from a cup competition — big wins, close finishes, a few bruised egos and more than one captain wondering 'its going be a long season'

The headline result came from Hurst Warriors, who pulled off one of the round's standout performances by defeating Premier Division side Manor A 7–5.

The Warriors had home advantage and they certainly had the appetite for a cup upset. Manor A arrived as the higher-ranked side, only to discover that the Hurst lads hadn't read the script!

7–5 to Hurst Warriors and a place in Round Two secured from 5-5 Adam Walker and Lee Ryan upped the Championship 2 sides 'gears' and completed the night .That's what you call a proper cup performance — and one that will have the Premier sides taking a little more notice of the Warriors in the next round.

😱 Renegades B win a cup thriller

There was also plenty of drama in the Ashwood v Renegades B  clash.

With neither side willing to give an inch, the match went all the way to 6–6, meaning the dreaded deciding team game was required.

And to the decider a 'four player' team game ... Cue the tension. Cue the nervous captains.
Cue everyone suddenly becoming an expert on who should play!

Thankfully for Renegades B, they kept their heads when it mattered most and edged the playoff to claim a 7–6 victory and their place in the next round.

It was heartbreak for The Ashwood , who came agonisingly close after trailing 6-2 only for the final frame slip away.

💥 Plenty of big scores

Elsewhere, Longton Pool made a strong start with a 7–2 away win over Supersharks, while Bank Shot Bandits battled past Manor B 7–5.

Plaza B produced an impressive 7–1 victory over The Karens, while Castaways recorded the biggest win of the round, sweeping aside Wedgwood CC , in their league debut night, 7–0.

Plaza were equally ruthless, putting Sneyd Arms to the sword with another 7–0 whitewash, while Retro Renegades matched the scoreline against Princess Royal.

Cricketers progressed with a 7–3 win over No Hopes, Potters defeated John Marston 7–2, Nomads saw off Plaza Rejects 7–3, and Longton SV came through 7–2 against Spitfires B.

Premier status, reputations and league positions count for very little when the balls are rolling and there's a place in the next round at stake.

Hurst Warriors have already shown that they're more than capable of upsetting the odds

The league season kick off next week ... should be fun ...

At tonights league meeting the draw for the opening round of the MB Entertainment's & Express Blinds KO Cup was made. As per rules the Premier sides were seeded. Full draw on the relevant KO page. Don't forget its 12 frames this season and a team game as a decider if the score goes 6-6.

Corner Pin have moved down the road to the Ashwood , even before a ball has been hit ..

Tickets were on sale for the final time for the Presentation , expect to pay more 'on the door' .

2026-27 Season Update

Another season dawns for us running Stoke Pool League and this year we launch a new website to work alongside the LeagueAppLive.

I'd like to welcome Jason Price and One Stop Computers , but Jason has been with us many years but this year he has stepped up and become our 'main' sponsors .. Plaza Pool and Snooker remain our venue sponsor and Neil Jones continues with his sponsorship of the Merits. A pretty 'damn good team' there .

A late inclusion was MB Entertainment's who along with Express Blinds will jointly sponsor the KO Cup and Plate.
