Founded in 1978, the Stoke Pool League has been a cornerstone of competitive pool in Staffordshire for over four decades. Originally centred around the Longton and Blurton areas—when local pubs formed the backbone of the game—the league quickly established a reputation for delivering high-quality competition every Tuesday night.
Even with Tuesday being the most competitive evening for pool across the county, the Stoke Pool League has continued to thrive, earning its place as one of Staffordshire’s strongest and most respected leagues.
Since 1985, the league has been led by Chairman George Bradbury and Secretary Tony Hazledine, whose dedication and vision have driven its ongoing success while preserving its high standards. Over 17 years ago, Paul Ward joined the committee, bringing fresh ideas and a forward-thinking approach. More recently, Lee Baskerville has taken on responsibility for league competitions, further strengthening the league’s organisation.
Together, the committee remains committed to developing the league and ensuring the Stoke Pool League stays at the forefront of Staffordshire County pool.
